Sean Stokoe | Chief Executive & Lead Management Trainer

Equally at home working at executive level developing strategy or with managers and team leaders Sean’s open honest approach builds confidence and solutions to overcome obstacles and challenges.

Sean has a national and international reputation for impactful solutions to developmental needs for organisations across public, private and third-sector organisations. As a former senior manager within the public sector, together with his invaluable private sector experience, he provides a unique and engaging approach to developing organisations and its leaders.


Sally Dale | Finance Director & Senior Coach & Facilitator

A founding member of ioda, Sally holds the position of Company Finance Director responsible for all strategic financial issues including oversight and governance. As part of this role Sally is our Apprenticeship lead and our client liaison for these programmes.

However she has also extensive experience in learning and development specialising in executive coaching and group facilitation.

Sally specialises in working at strategic and operational management levels, with a strong emphasis on gaining buy-in from senior leaders. She works extensively across the UK in all sectors including public, corporate and voluntary as well as internationally where she has coached executives in Rwanda, India, The Maldives and The Sudan.

Sally has also developed a range of financial training programmes including our highly successful commercial awareness workshop. Her engaging and pragmatic approach has built a client base that appreciates how the perceived ‘complex’ world of finance is simplified and brought to life.


Lisa Reynolds | Client Services Manager and Trainer

Working closely with clients to produce the perfect training solution is where Lisa can be found when not in front of a group delivering training. Lisa is currently heading up the IODA M.A.P.L.E programme (Multi-Agency Apprenticeship Programme for Leadership Excellence). This Leadership & Management Apprenticeship programme runs alongside the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Diploma Level 5 and has the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion threaded throughout supporting organisations to make a real difference. Anyone who has come into contact with Lisa, knows that fairness, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion is what makes her tick, coupled with Leadership and Management makes her the perfect facilitator for delivering Inclusive Leadership within your organisation

Lisa is our Equality lead as well as specialising in mediation and working with organisations to repair dysfunctional teams and to rebuild the confidence of managers and staff. She advocates the importance of instilling effective assertiveness skills to ensure everyone knows how to challenges things effectively.


Ruth Langdon | Client Services Manager and Trainer

Ruth is enthusiastic about the development of individuals and teams. The response to her training sessions from delegates is often that they are enlightening and thought-provoking, whilst providing practical solutions to topics that are considered charged and demanding. There are no ‘off the shelf solutions’ when Ruth is in a training room.

As a coach, and MBTI Practitioner Ruth has an intuitive knack of building rapport and then getting to the heart of development issues with delegates. They then work collaboratively to seek practical and pragmatic solutions.

Ruth is also a Client Services Manager, renowned for building strong partnerships with client organisations and acting as a Programme Manager. She provides support, feedback, progress reporting and Return on Investment information to further the aims of collaborative working and continuous improvement.


Helen Pickup | Administration Team

Helen organises all the ioda team within an inch of their lives. Whether it’s booking flights, sorting accommodation, managing student work or simply listening to trainer feedback on how the day has gone, Helen is the cog around which ioda rotates.

As Centre Co-ordinator, Helen is responsible for all dealings with our accreditation partners including the CMI, EdExcel, ILM and NOCN. Understanding how each of these awarding organisations work and then ensuring our students meet the individual requirements is no mean feat and she achieves this whilst also mending the photocopier!


Ruth Richardson | Administration Team

As the wordsmith of the organisation, Ruth ensures that all the tender documents, marketing materials and training books meet the quality standards that ioda always deliver.

From initial bid evaluation and decision to tender, through management and allocation of resources, to the ultimate production and submission of a bid, Ruth creates documents that bring our services to life and reflect the core elements that are inherent in all our training; fun, learning and a safe environment.


Debs Willoughby | Consultant

With more than two decades service as a police officer in the UK and nineteen years in international police development leadership roles, Debra is an internationally recognised expert on policing and access to justice development in post-conflict environments. 

She has exceptionally strong management and influencing skills, as evidenced by the progress made, and the relationships built, in places such as Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, the Balkans and India.  Moreover, she has successfully built local capacity to design, manage and evaluate police/access to justice initiatives and training. Her impressive UK resume includes extensive experience of working within the Equality and Diversity agenda. She delivered the UK’s first cultural audit as a result of the MacPherson report and went on to provide support and guidance across the public sector. 


Richard Mellors | Consultant

A highly experienced consultant in leading and developing major organisational change programmes, Richard is also an outstanding leadership and management trainer with a track record of success that spans over 30 years.  With considerable experience as a senior public sector manager, Richard has also held the role of Managing Director within commercial organisations.  When he is not developing UK leaders, Richards works extensively across the world using his particular expertise of working within post conflict environments.


Pat Wade | Consultant

Pat has a successful track record of designing and delivering a range of programmes including Leadership, Train the Trainer, Coaching, Communication Skills, Team Building, Diversity, Customer Service, Coaching, Performance Management, Resilience and Career Planning.  He has delivered training to a range of organisations within the public sector including the Police and Fire Services, Local Authorities, Higher Education and the Armed Services.

Within the commercial sector, his experience includes BT, L’Oreal, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes Benz & Royal Bank of Scotland. He also works within the voluntary sector including Victim Support and Homes and Housing Associations. 

Pat has a strong commitment to his professional development and has successfully completed a range of qualifications relating to facilitation, training, coaching, assessment and diversity from the CIPD, TAP Foundation, Birkbeck College and City University. These qualifications underpin his experiences and enables Pat to deliver high quality, interactive, stimulating and engaging training. He consistently receives excellent feedback from course delegates and organisational sponsors.

In the international arena, Pat’s experience extends to delivering training in Europe (France, Switzerland, Poland and Ireland) and Africa (Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique).

The Other Side production company develops and produces all our multi media. We believe in supporting and nurturing young talent and are pleased to be working with such a professional and up and coming independent production company specialising in film, documentary, journalism, promotional work  and music.

The Other Side are passionate about the media world and everything it has to offer and strive to deliver honest, non-biased media and captivating film. A  two-person team who deliver excellence in all areas of media, their absolute passion is contagious, engaging and they let their work speaks for itself.


Richard Abbott | Consultant

Richard is a retired Police Inspector who served with North Yorkshire Police (NYP) for 30 years with exemplary service.  Since 2000 he has also held the role of NYP Hostage Negotiator and crisis intervention specialist and has continued this responsibility since retirement. This role requires the practical implementation of the skills he now trains in the classroom.

Richard specialises in the areas of verbal and non-verbal communication conflict resolution, lone working and personal safety; and dealing with difficult people. He is also part of the ioda leadership and management apprenticeship delivery team responsible for a range of management topics including personal effectiveness and leading high performing teams.


Sarah Buck | Associate Trainer

Sarah is an experienced Manager from the private sector, qualified coach and assessor used to dealing with personal and organisational change as part of an Operational Excellence Team in a large commercial company.  Sarah now shares her knowledge and passion for continuous personal and professional development, as a workplace coach/assessor on our Management Apprenticeship programmes.


Elaine Ives | Associate Trainer

As a Performance and Executive Coach, Elaine is passionate and excited about helping people develop and improve by learning new skills, achieving their aims and being the best the y can be.  With over 40 years Management experience in private, public sector and charitable organisations, she brings with her a breadth of knowledge and experience.  She is an active coach in the West Midlands Coaching Pool. Elaine is excited by supporting people and has always tried to 'grow her own' successor in various roles over the years, bringing the potential and best out of people.  Her expertise in helping people through change is particularly relevant at the moment and as one of her former coachees said about their experience working with Elaine "coaching has helped in that it has enabled me to explore my own feelings and develop my own solutions as opposed to someone telling me how to resolve issues".


Emma Coller | Associate Trainer

Emma is an experienced and qualified coach, trainer and facilitator. Using creative techniques Emma utilises her deep knowledge and understanding of human thinking and behaviour to challenge thought patterns and perspectives. This develops a deeper level of self-awareness and learning which allows for change and growth.

Emma loves designing bespoke training for maximum impact and inclusivity, ensuring the client and her learners are at the heart of all she does.

Coaching others is Emma’s passion, whether implementing coaching cultures, delivering training programmes and workshops or working one to one with clients.  Emma has a unique and varied background and this is utilised and drawn upon to create innovative solutions in the classroom and in her consultancy work. She is also a strategic member of the international society of qualified coaches and experienced teacher of ILM and CMI management and leadership programmes.


Mark Sansome | Associate Trainer

Mark is a trainer, facilitator and speaker with a 25+ year background of designing and delivering training courses, workshops and away days. He is a qualified facilitator with a proven track record of increasing profits and improving team effectiveness, efficiency and engagement.

As a leadership and management trainer, Mark ensures that his training is delivered in such a way to make a real and practical difference in the workplace. He is often complimented for the clarity of his communication and his down-to-earth nature, putting participants at ease and giving them maximum opportunity to learn. Mark also facilitates workshops with teams in order to enable them to develop stronger team working and embrace change.

Mark spent much of this time building capability and working with teams to ensure consistent best practice.

When not delivering training, Mark can be often be found in his veg plot wondering just how many slugs one garden can produce.


Helen Nothard | Associate Trainer and Coach

Helen is a Trainer and Coach who is passionate about people - she loves nothing more than working with individuals to see them thrive. A Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, Helen has 20 years’ experience working in both the Public and Private Sectors. Throughout her career she has held senior leadership positions, shaping strategy and helping organisations to grow through the talents of their people. Helen has now swapped the boardroom for the classroom focusing on what she loves most: developing people through training and coaching.
